Event introduction

The Global Digital Trade Expo (GDTE) is China’s only national-level international professional exhibition with the theme of digital trade. GDTE acts as an important window for comprehensively displaying new technologies, products and ecosystems in global digital trade, and is also an exchange platform to discuss new standards, issues and trends in international digital trade, regarded as an open platform to build and share new markets, opportunities and development for economic and trade cooperation in the new era. The event is co-hosted by the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province and the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, and co-sponsored by Hangzhou Municipal People’s Government, Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, and Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce.

The fourth Global Digital Trade Expo is planned to be held at Hangzhou Grand Convention and Exhibition Center on September 25-29, 2025. Themed by “Digital Trade, Global Access”, it is composed of three sectors including “exhibition & display”, “major activities” and “digital trade online platform”. The event features “internationalization”, “specialization”, “marketization”, and “digitalization”, and outlines key words like “exhibition”, “conference”, “list”, “competition” and “resource”, to make every effort to showcase highlights in five major categories.

The third Global Digital Trade Expo was held at Hangzhou Grand Convention and Exhibition Center on September 25-29, 2024. It focused on the full industry chain of digital trade, featuring one comprehensive pavilion and eight characteristic pavilions associated to digital industry. It invited nearly 100 countries and international organizations, attracted more than 1,000 digital trade enterprises, and thousands of professional purchasers. The expo achieved four goals: establishing a global digital trade ecosystem, exploring global cooperation, promoting global digital trade, and sharing achievements.

The second Global Digital Trade Expo was held at Hangzhou International Expo Center on November 23-27, 2023. It covered a total exhibition area of 100,000 square meters, with 95 percent special booth area. 1,018 enterprises from 25 countries and regions attended the event offline and 367 enterprises online through the GDTE platform. About 15,000 professional purchasers get involved in the event, including more than 1,700 overseas exhibitors, and over 100 international purchase teams targeting cooperation at the event. There are over 10,000 guests participating in various forums and 100,000 people attending the event.

The first Global Digital Trade Expo was held in Hangzhou on December 11-14, 2022, with Ireland (known as the Silicon Valley of Europe) as the guest country of honor. The attendees from seven international organizations and 53 countries and regions, as well as 32 guests from the Embassies in China and Consulates General in Shanghai, participated in the event online and offline. Beijing, Shanghai and Sichuan act as the guest province (city) of honor. Eleven provincial and municipal delegations, and more than 800 major enterprises engaged in digital trade. 315 products of 286 enterprises made their debut, and 89 projects from the world's top 500, industry leaders and unicorn enterprises were signed, achieving trade investment of nearly 150 billion yuan. During the event, 26 high-level forums including the National Digital Service Export Base Summit Forum and Digital Cultural Trade Summit Forum had been organized, and a series of significant research results had been released, which had showcased a consensus on the development of digital trade and become a major benchmark for global digital trade.
