Hangzhou Octopus Robotics signed two orders worth a combined 280 million yuan ($41.69 million) at the fifth Global Digital Trade Expo in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Sept 26, boosting its expansion into domestic and overseas markets.
The company reached strategic cooperation agreements with Xianwei Zhiqing and Zhongji (Hangzhou) Intelligent Equipment Technology, focusing on public restroom cleaning robots. The partnership with Xianwei Zhiqing targets markets in Russia and the Middle East, while the other will provide integrated automated cleaning and disinfection solutions for public restrooms at transportation hubs and other high-traffic locations across China.
The orders follow the global debut of Octopus Robotics' new X1 public restroom cleaning robot at the expo. Unlike robots designed mainly for floor cleaning, the X1 can clean three-dimensional spaces, including countertops and toilets.
The robot pairs an autonomous mobile base with a six-axis robotic arm. The base handles sweeping, vacuuming, washing, and mopping, while the robotic arm sprays, scrubs, wipes, and dries surfaces.
The X1 uses lidar and other technologies for mapping, positioning, and route planning, enabling it to avoid obstacles and adjust its route. Octopus Robotics is also testing large-model technology to improve its understanding of environments and tasks.
The company launched its first-generation restroom cleaning robot in August 2025 and plans to begin larger-scale production and deliveries from November to December this year.
