A robot with no legs, no hands, and no humanoid appearance has become a surprise star at the 4th Global Digital Trade Expo in Hangzhou — securing over 300 million yuan ($42 million) in orders within just five days.
Developed by XWZ, based in the China Town of Computing Power in Linping district, the Turing One embodied intelligent cleaning robot is designed for smart indoor sanitation. It features a wheel-based chassis and a single robotic arm with a gripper, allowing it to clean not only floors but also sinks, toilets, and other vertical surfaces — even carrying out high-temperature disinfection.
According to co-founder Zhou Yong, the company initially joined the expo to gauge market feedback but unexpectedly received more than 1,600 pre-orders, including nearly 20 percent from overseas buyers in the United Arab Emirates and Singapore.
"Turing One continuously improves cleaning strategies through real-world data, creating a new model of human-robot collaboration — where cleaners serve as robot trainers, directing robots to complete 80 percent of repetitive work," Zhou said.
Driven by strong demand, XWZ is expanding production with five to seven new assembly lines to meet orders. Local authorities in Linping are also providing policy and infrastructure support.
The success of Turing One highlights a new export model for Hangzhou's intelligent manufacturing — combining practical demand, technological innovation, and commercial scalability.
