Chinese robotics startup Unitree has already iterated its algorithms several times this year and plans to release a 1.8-meter-tall humanoid robot in the second half of the year, Wang Xingxing, CEO, CTO, and founder of Unitree, said at the fourth Global Digital Trade Expo in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province on Friday, according to China Securities Journal.

Wang said that the domestic robotics industry in China has grown rapidly in the first half of this year, with intelligent robotics companies reporting average growth rates of 50 to 100 percent.

In August, Unitree posted on the social media platform Sina Weibo that its 1.8-meter humanoid robot would be released soon, drawing widespread attention. The post featured an elegantly designed image of the robot, with a caption indicating that it stands over 1.8 meters tall.

China's robotics industry recorded a 27.8 percent year-on-year increase in operating revenue in the first half of 2025, with industrial robot output up 35.6 percent and service robot output up 25.5 percent, Xin Guobin, vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said in August.
