The third Global Digital Trade Expo (GDTE) is about to be held in Hangzhou from September 25 to 29. Yabin Wu, Head of UNIDO ITPO Beijing, reckoned that digital trade has profound implications for global value chains.

Hello, everyone. I'm Yabin Wu, the Head of UNIDO ITPO Beijing.

UNIDO is the specialized agency of the United Nations for promoting "Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development". UNIDO’s motto is "Progress by Innovation". UNIDO ITPO serves as a central hub of science, technology, investment, and innovation. It is dedicated to facilitating technology transfer through investment, driving the digital and "green" transformation of traditional industries.

Nowadays, digital technologies are transforming our world at an unprecedented pace, driving the evolution of global trade. Emerging technologies such as blockchain, AI, and the Internet of Things are not only enhancing trade efficiency but also reshaping global supply chains, making them more transparent and intelligent.

As a global platform for technology promotion, UNIDO ITPO Beijing is committed to fostering technological innovation and industrial cooperation to support China in achieving their sustainable development goals. In the field of digital trade, we actively promote international cooperation, helping enterprises, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to enhance their digital capacities and seize new opportunities brought by the digital economy.

Digital trade has profound implications for global value chains. Firstly, from a spark of inspiration to product design, from manufacturing to distribution and after-sales, digital goods and services themselves bring new digitalized value chains to the stage. Secondly, digital tools and platforms help firms more deeply engage in international trade. Lastly, digital trade accelerates the flow of innovation factors and data elements between countries, and increase the diffusion of new technologies.

The booming global digital trade emerges as a new bright spot in international trade.The Global Digital Trade Expo demonstrates China's commitment to "Opening up and win-win cooperation." It is also a window to showcase the latest technological achievements of digital trade worldwide.

Since the first GDTE, ITPO Beijing has been a firm supporter of this significant international event. Last year, in collaboration with the Hangzhou Municipal Government, we initiated the UNIDO Fourth Industrial Revolution Accelerator in Hangzhou.

ITPO Beijing will continue to work with our global partners to promote digital innovations toward a more open, inclusive, balanced and win-win future.
